A little bit about meWhen this blog began (the time of the Rwanda and Bolivia adventures) I was 18, fresh outta sixth form and taking a year off from the structured learning environment of school, to learn more about the world, different cultures, people. myself, and God... and that I began to do, having my eyes and mind opened a bit more :)
Now: just re-igniting this blog for a (briefer -phew!) kind of low-down on my latest travels and what I'm getting up to - mainly for family not on facebook or anyone who wants to know a bit more than just the photos I post. It´s also good for me to do as a way of keeping memories as I always have the intention to write a diary but in practise this always flops, haha :P So there´ll be some stuff about things I'm getting up to in Valencia 2016-2017! |

Pleeeease excuse the cringeyness (and lengthyness!) of some of the previous blog posts! ;P Theyre still a little bit too recent for me to read them back without cringing, haha... I have loved, and continue to love the slightly uncomfortable but exciting times of learning that challenge and change me. I love learning about other cultures as I meet and get to know new people, I love learning about development globally, I want to keep learning about myself and growing as a person. I want to continue learning about what it means to put your faith into action all the time, not just when everything´s all happy-clappy. I want to carry on learning more about God, and how to live a life full of love, like Jesus did. |
MY YEAR OUT IN BRIEF ´13-´14
here's a quick summary of what my year will look like..
September 30th - December 9th 2013:
10 weeks in Rwanda, with Tearfund, through the ICS initiative (see any of the links at the top for Rwanda for what I'll be doing, the latest on what I'm up to while I'm there, and why I'm doing it). |
December 2013 - March 2014:
At home, seeing friends and family, doing my 'Action at Home' event for Tearfund, hopefully working somewhere to earn a bit of money, fundraising events (maybe a car boot sale? ..a Christmas fair?[DONE!] ..another cake sale..?), Spanish lessons, athletics training, volunteering in the Community Cafe.... |
March 2014 - July 2014:
Between 10-16 weeks in Latin America (not sure where yet!), to volunteer on a project most probably with a small NGO, and again most probably living with a host-family! All will be revealed when I've decided on which organisation it'll be with and where, and what I'll be doing! All while putting my Spanish GCSE into practise and hopefully coming back hablando muy bien el español! No pressure! :S ;) |
July 2014 - September 2014:
Enjoying the summer, possibly working a bit more, doing some voluntary work, athletics, getting ready for Uni! |
